Raymonde van Santen

I made this installation with immigrants with a residency permit  who were learning Dutch. They decorated most of the ceramic houses during their break from the lessons.

The fired and decorated houses symbolise their new "homes" that appear from underneath the destroyed homes in their home country, made of unfired clay. In eroding clay new roots will grow.
