samaras/helicopters
In the United States I had two Canadian maple trees in my garden, which gave me an abundance of seedpods, samaras. I used the images in pen & ink drawings on vellum and the actual seeds in installations.

samaras: the possibility of becoming
2009The birth of my first grandson was the inspiration for the pen-and-ink drawing 'samaras: the possibility of becoming'. From two seeds a new life indeed originated.

samaras: a study
2008'samaras: study' shows three of the many shapes of smamaras.
installation of samaras on a tree
2009Using fallen down 'helicopters' (samaras) I attached new helicopters on the Canandian maple tree.
life after life after life
2008the installation 'life after life after life' portrays how life repeats itself. Like nurturing rain the helicopters (samaras) whirl down from stilized breastlike cups into the protecting cups, where the seeds will sprout and mature, producing seeds themselves now.
