An artist book is a work of art, which may be unique (just one copy) or an edition. It is different in the sense that you can touch or hold it while viewing, creating a special relationship between the artist and the viewer. Sometimes the images are more important than the text, if there is any.

A marker is an object that makes us slow down and reflect on the present or the past. Research into the sculpture and symbolism of the peoples of the Democratic Republic of Congo inspired me to make such objects. They aim to recall the sense of magic and power, inherent in age-old monuments.

The series

The series "houses" was created while contemplating the houses I have lived in. The result is an interplay of color and composition. "Playing" with the house shapes resulted in a number of stencils, which I used in various compositions, printed with various colors.
The image is cut in one or more woodblocks. Each color requires its own block. Then the blocks are printed in order. Precise registration is very important.

In the United States I had two Canadian maple trees in my garden, which gave me an abundance of seedpods, samaras. I used the images in pen & ink drawings on vellum and the actual seeds in installations.
