markers
A marker is an object that makes us slow down and reflect on the present or the past. Research into the sculpture and symbolism of the peoples of the Democratic Republic of Congo inspired me to make such objects. They aim to recall the sense of magic and power, inherent in age-old monuments.

marker: kerameikos
2006Kerameikos has been a neighborhood in Athens from the 12th C BC, an important center of potters. A huge cemetary was also located here. The form of my sculpture was often used to mark the grave of a couple.

2004The oval shapes symbolize the mouths of the 'griots', the narrators and keepers of oral traditions and history of a people.

marker of life: ancient voices
2003'marker of life: ancient voices' is a metafor for the delicate balance existing in nature, the interdepence of living things, human beings and their environment. From bottom to top we see the world of the oceans, the plants, the animals, people, the universe.

2000Celtic gold objects dating from the late bronze age were the inspiration for this marker.
